Las Vegas has a reputation as an adult city, but many of its shows, games and days out suit families well. The key is checking a few details that matter more with children than with a group of adults.
Start with the age policy
Every show sets its own rules. Some welcome all ages, some set a minimum age, and some require every guest to have a ticket regardless of age, even a baby on a lap. Adult revues and some comedy are 18+ or 21+. Check the official show page or ask the box office directly before you plan around it.
What tends to work for children
- Visual productions with acrobatics, music and spectacle, where language matters less.
- Magic shows, many of which are designed for mixed audiences; see Comedy and Magic Nights and check the age guidance for each.
- Touring Broadway shows at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, downtown, alongside ballet and orchestral concerts.
- Sport: an evening at Las Vegas Ballpark watching the Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators is relaxed and roomy, and hockey at T-Mobile Arena is fast and loud.
- Free sights, such as the Fremont Street Experience light show downtown or the exterior of Sphere.
Practical checks
- Running time and start time: an early performance is usually better for younger children.
- Volume and effects: loud music, strobe lighting or water effects can unsettle some children; ear defenders help.
- Seats: an aisle seat makes restroom trips easier, and a raised view helps smaller people see over adults. Our guide to seat maps has more.
- Walking: casinos are large and children are often not allowed to linger on gaming floors, so plan your route.
Plan around the heat
Children feel heat quickly, and summer afternoons are often above 100 °F. Keep outdoor activities to mornings and evenings, carry water, and read Beating the Desert Heat. For daytime ideas away from the casinos, see Days Out Off the Strip.
Buying tickets
Helios Club does not sell tickets. Buy from the venue or show's official box office, which can confirm age rules and seating at the same time. Read Buying Show Tickets Safely, and browse Shows for more ideas.
