The Smith Center for the Performing Arts offers a different side of Las Vegas entertainment: Broadway tours, ballet, orchestral concerts and jazz, in a downtown performing arts center rather than a casino showroom. For visitors who want a classic theater evening, it is the natural place to start.
Location
The center is at 361 Symphony Park Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89106, in Symphony Park, downtown. It is away from the Strip resorts, so plan your transport in advance. Downtown is also home to the Fremont Street Experience; see our downtown and Fremont Street guide if you want to make an evening of it.
History and design
The Smith Center opened on March 10, 2012. Its main room, the 2,050-seat Reynolds Hall, has a Neo Art Deco design inspired by Hoover Dam. The center is home to the Las Vegas Philharmonic and Nevada Ballet Theatre.
What to expect
Programming spans touring Broadway productions, ballet, the philharmonic and jazz. Compared with an arena, Reynolds Hall is a more traditional theater experience, with a seat plan of orchestra and upper levels. Our seat maps explained guide helps you compare sightlines. Visitor notes
- Check the venue's own site for schedules, bag policy and parking before you go.
- Arrive early enough to find your seat before the performance starts; theaters often hold latecomers until a suitable break.
- If you are coming from the Strip, allow extra travel time; read getting around the Strip.
- In hot months, carry water; the average July high is about 104.5 °F. See beating the desert heat.
